Section 8 Paperwork
I received the Section 8 paperwork from my local housing authority the other day, but didn't have time to go through it until last night. Wow! They sure insepct a lot stuff. No wonder people say their inspections are tough to pass. After reading the entire checklist of items they inspect and to what degree, I believe House #2 MAY fail on several accounts. First, they say the flooring must be safe and free of any hazards that may cause a person to trip. While the flooring in House #2 is safe by my standards, the Section 8 inspector MAY fail it due to the carpet needing stretching in a couple of areas. It's not THAT bad at all, but just a slight indication of the carpet needing stretched may be all the inspector needs to fail me. Second, it says the property must be free of insect and vermin infestation. Again, I'm not sure how stiff the inspector would be as this property seems to attract a lot of spiders - although, it's less now that I sprayed. Lastly, there were several "fist-sized" holes in the garage drywall I never repaired. I figure the cost-benefit just wasn't there to fix them, and they aren't that bad at all. I guess if it ever came down to being the definitive factor, I'd just cover them with something permanent.
