Central Texas RE Market Booming

I read this article in Sunday's AAS paper, and a mortgage broker sent me the link to the online copy of it (note: the link sets some cookies that only allows you to view it once - you can delete all the www.statesman.com cookies or use another browser/computer to view it again). Basically, it shows how well central Texas did last year in the RE market and how things are poised to boom (which most of already knew anyway).

What I found ironic about the article is that they start off talking about the very city I am investing in: Hutto. It had an astounding 60%+ sales increase from 2005 to 2006 (although it only appreciated 3.9% during that time frame). As the story points out, many developments have been made and are in the works to make this area appreciate rapidly. Just 3-5 years ago, it was a quiet little town with almost no retail shopping and only a few subdivisions. Now it has a large retail strip center, Home Depot, several restaurants (fast food and sit down), and some major players coming to the area in the next year or two (HEB, Holiday Inn, Lowes).

If I thought the competition was tough before, I ain't see nothing yet.
