More On My MIL

I was off this past Monday, and my wife and I met with an attorney to get a will written. During the time, my MIL (mother-in-law) was baby-sitting our daughter. (Unfortunately, I didn't have time to mention REI to the attorney as we spent the whole 90 minutes talking about the will.) After the appointment, my MIL inquired more about my knowledge on RE investing - in particular, rehabbing. I told her the pros and cons about undertaking such a project. I even showed her pictures other rehabbers have on the web detailing their day-to-day ordeals. It seems every time I discuss REI with her, she becomes more-and-more receptive to the idea. Her husband retired last year after 35+ years of laying ceramic tile. Although he worked for someone else almost his entire life, they both ventured on their own the last five years. During his time as a tile setter, they have both crossed paths with a lot of people in the construction business. When I talked to her over the weekend, my MIL mentioned that she knows a lot of reliable and honest people who we could leverage when we undergo rehab projects.

I have always been swayed to learning wholesale flipping and even Lease/Optioning, and have thought that rehabbing is something best left for experts (and still think this way to some degree). But after talking with my MIL, I may have an upperhand on the competition in regards to finding cheap(er) and more reliable members of my rehab team. Still though, I want to learn more about rehabs before diving into them. And, more importantly, ...

I have to find my first deal!
