YEsterday, I posted a small update post on my blog about my dealings trying to get Steve Cook's Wholesaling and Rehabbing courses for a total of $249. Before looking at his newsgroup, I went ahead and just ordered the Wholesaling course for $179+$10S/H. Afterward, I noticed that Steve Cook posted a response in the thread saying I was correct and that for that day only, anyone could get both courses for $249. This put me in a scramble to get my order revised. I got hold of Melanie from his customer service department, and she gladly updated my order.
Now that I have it all straightened out, I came to the realization of something I already had an 'inkling' about: Steve Cook is a man of honesty and integrity. I have seen him and William post on his newsgroup routinely, answering people's questions - even if they have never ordered anything from them (like me). Now, what other guru does that? And this ordeal just solidified my perception of his honesty and integrity. Plus he has a wonderful and personable customer service department.
Even without yet opening his courseware, I can already tell that I will be pleasantly surprised by his professionalism.

I was considering talking with Steve. He seemed like a man who would be great to talk with. I have skimmed some of his articles and from your post he seems like a good guy. How is his course?
I'll definately post some comments about his courses when I get them and put them to work. He (and William, the author of some other good books) come across as very down-to-earth "gurus". But, unlike most other gurus, they seem to really enjoy collaborating with professional investors and newbies alike.
