Homevestors

I recall several months ago that I went to look at a prospective investment property and later found out that Homevestors was the seller. Most REI's know who/what Homevestors is, so I won't go into details. Aside from a daily ad in the local Austin newspaper, that was the only time I ever saw any advertising by them - until today. While on my way into work, I usually see the occasional "Web Buy Houses" bandit signs here and there. Today, though, I noticed a small billboard erected in a well used road that had the signature Homevestors slogan "We Buy UGLY Houses" on it. It was about 3/4'ths completed. It's not technically in my farm area, but it does catch some traffic on the way out of my farm area.

Coincidentally, I was thinking the other day of contacting a local land owner on the fringe of my farm area to see if I could erect a sign on his/her property for a small monthly fee. Of course, I'd also have to get permission from code compliance officials first. There was a person who routinely put up bandit signs in the area, but hasn't done so in a few months. I figure they probably have a couple of houses they are dealig with or the "sign police" gave them a ticket.

Yeah, those billboards are everywhere here as well. They've even rented out individual retail spaces in town and kept them empty, just to have the display sign list their logo.

What's interesting is the billboard is located about 100 yards away from a small rundown office building that has a tenant who touts:

"$0 Move-on! New homes as low as $750/month!"

I know it's not the same person, but it just goes to show you how the REI business has picked up around here.

Richard - I was going to post the same thing here myself. I'm not sure what happened to either Mike or Joe. Both were full of adrenaline, but dropped off the radar. I hope they are both in a holding pattern and not completely done with REI.
