House #2 Status

Survey

Much to my surprise, the survey was done last Friday. Matter of fact, I got a call from the lady at the survey office saying I could come by and pay anytime and pick up the documents. I was pressed for time Friday, so I paid it today. I really like this survey company because they do an excellent job, and give you upteen copies of the survey, including a nice legal-sized lamenated copy. Plus, the price is reasonable and the staff are pleasant to work with.

Insurance

I actually got a call from the agent who insures House #1 as I was writing this entry. I gave him the info on House #2, along with the broker's & underwriter's contact info. He said he'll try to get some numbers for me by the end of today. House #1 is about 300sf larger, but other than that they have about the same characteristics, so I'm guessing the hazard insurance will be at worse the same, which isn't too bad. From what I've been reading, I'm lucky to even find a carrier these days, but maybe that's just in certain parts of the country.

Update: Just got a quote from the agent and it came in about $250 less than House #1, which was a welcome surprise. Whew!

Now, I'm just waiting on any other conditions the lender may have in the works for me. They wanted proof of funds to close, also, but currently I'm about $200 short of the amount they are looking for. I told the underwriter I'd be getting paid this Friday and my account should have more than enough (of course, that's before I pay all the beginning-of-the-month bills). :-P
