Broken Dishwasher?

My wife checked her phone and noticed she got a VM from the tenant in House #2. Evidentally, the dishwasher is not working. The tenant said she tried turning the switch on and off to no avail and there was a "grinding" noise. My wife said she called the tenant back and the tenant reiterated the problem. Guess I'll be driving by after work to see what the problem could be. Worse case is the dishwasher needs fixed/replaced. I certainly hope not, but it is pretty old (~10yrs). I'm like my wife ... it seems everything is working fine when we owned the house and then all these things start happening once a tenant moves in.
