House #1: Check Bounced (Again)

Well, my wife called me at work today to tell me that one of the checks the tenant in House #1 sent earlier this month bounced. The same thing happened earlier this year as well and the tenant raised a fuss, saying he had the money and it was OUR bank's fault and so on. What happened is they almost always send us two checks - one for a large amount that covers about 90% of the rent and the other from another bank for the remainder. The smaller check is the one that bounced. Even so, I sent him an email and my wife called him and his wife (no answer, of course) to let them know that they were officially 12 days late and owed us not only the amount of the check, but also 12 days of late fees PLUS the return check fee. About 20 mins after I sent the email, I got a response, which I was bracing for to be another "I HAD THE MONEY" in the bank response. Instead, it contained 4 words: "I'll mail it out." Hmmmmm.
