I called the CPA this past Tuesday and got her voicemail, I left her a message with my phone number and askd her to call me back. It's now Friday, and I haven't heard from her. I'm thinking this has something to do with Hurricane Katrina, but that's only a guess. I doubt she would be blowing me off, but stranger things have happened in this venture. I'll give it another few days and see what happens.
I picked up the correct rent check from my tenant on Wed. She thanked me again for pointing out the error, but I figured even if I was a scumbag and cashed her original check, it would have came to light in the near future anyway. Besides that, though, I'm just a nice guy. :-D
I called back the person who called and left me a message the other day about a house, but it just rang and rang (no answering machine or voicemail). I'll try to call them back again today to see what's up. I seriously doubt this deal will pan out, if my research is correct. But maybe I can help them by flipping the deal to someone who knows more about short sales than I.
A 3-day weekend is upon us, and my wife already has things planned. I can't recall the last time I had time off and used it for it's intended purpose - to relax. We are preparing our house for her parents to move in later this month. That means going through "junk" and clearing out space. We've already made a pile for garage sale items. Our neighborhood HOA is having their bi-annual garage sale this month, and we will be unloading a lot of "junk". In light of the recent tragedy in the Gulf Coast, I think we'll be donating a lot of the stuff to charity. I already give a portion of my paycheck each month to a local children's shelter, and give to other charities throughout the year. They always say charitable contributions are good for the soul, and I am a firm believer in that.
Thanks to Trisha for posting about the Red Cross. We'll be making a monetary donation to them as well.

Hmmmm. I called the sellers again, and again got an never-ending sound of rings. Guess I'll try again tonight. If I still get no answer, I'll check this one off.
Well, good for you, Steve! Your determination will help you find another good deal soon, I'm sure. Good luck with the chores this weekend!
