House #1 - Day 19
I went to the house with my new carpet steamer/shampooer, hoping I could knock off a couple of rooms. I get there about 4:30'ish and leave at around 7:00pm, and manage to finish cleaning the entire house. I was a little disappointed that several stains didn't come up, but all-in-all the machine did a good job. As I said before, the previous owner was a smoker, and there was a lot of inidications of that in the carpet - especially where there was a big piece of furniture sitting. What I found very interesting was that the carpet machine would leave clumps of carpet fibers every so often. It mentioned in the instructions that carpet that have never been cleaned could do this, and this carpet certainly did. I'll have to go back over it the next day with a shop vac to clean up all the clumps. I also managed to weed eat the driveway. There were some weeds coming up throught the seperation joists in the concrete, and I got what I could before my line went down to nothing. I'll probably grab a can of Roundup to make the job permanent. I also took back my first load of stuff from the house (mostly painting supplies). I tried to get the soot on the fireplace walls off with several different cleaners, but nothing worked. It isn't TOO bad, so I decided to just leave it. There is some soot in the bottom, though, that I'll need to sweep up. So all I have left to do is:
