The Waiting Game

I haven't posted in a couple of days, mainly because I have very little to write about. I've been busy both in my personal life and at work, and haven't devoted a lot of time to REI this past week. I did manage to make my first mortgage and utility payments, so the first month's holding costs have been paid. Tomorrow will be two weeks since my agent listed the house (however, only 10 days since she's actually marketed it), and it's had only ONE showing. The magazine the the house is to appear in was made available to Realtors earlier this week, but won't hit the stands until today (according to my agent), so maybe I'll get a couple more bites soon.

In another week, if I don't get any lucrative offers, I think I'll drop the price down and offer some incentives. If nothing else, it will get more people to look at it. I posted an ad on Craig's List, but I've got no response except some spam.

Also, I called the HOA property management company two weeks ago to follow-up on an email I had sent the week before. The guy said the accounting lady had sent the package out that day. Well, two weeks later and still nothing. I sent the lady another email a couple of days ago, and STILL nothing. She never responded to my original email and still hasn't responded to this one. If I hear or get nothing by toorrow, I am going to make a personal trip to their office, and it won't be pleasant (for them). So far in this venture, about the only people whom I've asked to do things and gotten 100% perfect service has been the electric company. Everyone else has dropped the ball somewhere along the line and I've had to follow-up in order for them to get their act together. With this lack of service across a multitude of industries, I think building a business would be a cinch - JUST HAVE A SO-SO PRODUCT, BUT HAVE EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE.

Thanks for the kind words. It's been both stressful and very educational. I can see why so many newbies fail with all the barriers, but like anything else .. .perserverence pays huge dividends.
