I actually spent more than an hour at the property today - woohoo! My FIL got there at 10:00am and started taping. I arrived at about 3:30pm, and immediately started painting another coat onthe shelves. Before I left, I checked them and decided not to do another coat. They could probably use another coat, but I've already concentrated on them too much already. I'd say the house is about 75% taped now. My FIL had done a lot before I got there, and I only managed to tape the kitchen in the few hours I was there. We still need to tape the master and nursery/office.
Afterwards, we both went to Home Depot and got 10 gallons of paint. I figure it may need more than that, but 10 gallons is enough for now. I was going to buy the cheap stuff, but decided on a paint that was a little more expensive. I don't want to spend a lot on the paint, but I also don't want to have to put 3+ coats on either. My FIL said he would get there the next morning and start painting. I'll try to get off of work early again to join him. Being that this will be Friday, I plan to work as long as there is sunlight. I'd work into the night as well, but I've heard painting with incandescent light is not a good idea.
I'm hoping we'll get a few rooms painted on Friday, and then continue on Saturday. I'll also be busy Saturday installing our new water heater. I figure that will take a good part of the day. The good news is my FIL had to replace his a few years back, so he's already experienced with it. If all goes well, we'll be finished with the painting early next week. I'll then either hire a carpet cleaning service, or do it myself, and then finish up the outside. I'm now looking at the week of May 9th to put it on the market.

Good going with the paint. Are you going to spray it on or hand roll. That's going to be some job if you're hand rolling.
Great to see you're getting the time to make some noticeable progress.
We'll be rolling it on. I thought about spraying it on as it would be faster, but that would require even more taping (and plastic). Plus, I'm not experienced, so it may come out with runs, which would look bad.
Thanks for the encouraging words!
Good luck with the painting, Steve! We put some "sweat equity" into our first investment property. I learned quite a bit during that time about houses, construction, and hardware. So, now, I know exactly what our contractor is talking about 99% of the time. My arms just about fell off from all the taping and painting, though. I don't envy you right now. But, you'll make it through and be proud of your experience one day!
